What's New in BeeBackX 1.1: Every Change Explained
BeeBackX 1.1 adds AI Enhance — upscale for sharper detail and interpolate for smoother motion — plus per-file stop and progress. Here is what changed.
BeeBackX 1.1 is the AI update. Alongside the existing Repair and Recovery tabs, there is now a third mode — AI Enhance — that improves the picture and motion of videos you already have, running entirely on your own PC.
This post walks through what’s new in plain language, with a one-line note on how to use each thing.
AI Enhance: a new tab
What it is: a third feature next to Repair and Recovery. Where Repair fixes broken files and Recovery rebuilds truncated ones, AI Enhance takes a playable video and makes it better — sharper detail, or smoother motion, or both.
What it does: two independent jobs, in three modes:
- Upscale — raises resolution so fine detail reads more clearly.
- Interpolate — adds in-between frames so fast motion looks smoother.
- Both — runs the two together in one pass.
Why it matters: footage shot on a phone, a dashcam, or an older camera often looks soft or choppy. AI Enhance sharpens the first and smooths the second, offline, without uploading anything.
Upscale: sharper detail
Upscale uses AI super-resolution to rebuild each frame at a higher resolution. You pick a Model and a Scale:
- Animation — tuned for animation and screen-style content. Supports 2x, 3x, and 4x.
- General — tuned for real-world footage. Runs at 4x.
How to use it: put a video in, set Mode to Upscale, choose a model and scale, and start. Output is saved to a folder you pick.
Interpolate: smoother motion
Interpolate generates new frames between the ones that exist, raising the frame rate. Set Interp to 2x, 3x, or 4x — 2x on a 30 fps clip gives roughly 60 fps.
Best for: action, sports, handheld footage, and anything that stutters. It’s a smoothing pass, not a repair.
Both at once
Set Mode to Both to upscale and interpolate in a single run — useful when a clip is both soft and choppy.
Fast on your GPU, safe on CPU
AI Enhance uses your graphics card through Vulkan when one is available, and falls back to the CPU automatically when it isn’t. There is no setting to manage: it uses the fastest path it can find on your machine. On CPU-only machines it still works, just more slowly.
Built for batches
Like the rest of BeeBackX, AI Enhance handles a folder at a time:
- Drag in several videos; they queue up together.
- Per-file progress so you can see exactly how far each clip is.
- Stop a single file without cancelling the whole batch (a new 1.1 improvement).
- Save All to export the finished results to one folder.
Your original files are never modified — AI Enhance writes new files and leaves the source untouched.
Preview first, export when ready
You can preview the enhanced result before deciding anything. Previewing is free; saving a clean file uses your license — the same model as Repair and Recovery.
What to know before you start
- It improves, it doesn’t invent. Upscaling sharpens the detail that’s there; it can’t recover detail that was never captured. Interpolation smooths motion; it can’t create moments that weren’t filmed.
- 4x takes time. Higher scale and frame multipliers mean more computation. Start with 2x to judge the result, then go higher.
- Audio is kept. The soundtrack is carried over untouched — only the picture and frame rate change.
